BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation - May 18-19

Not the Same Old BALOO
Are you a Pack Leader that wants to take your pack on an overnight camping adventure?
You need to take BALOO.

Are you a Webelos Den Leader and want to take your den on a den-level campout?
You need to take BALOO.

The BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) course has changed. The new BALOO course has a completely new syllabus and also replaces the OWL (Outdoor Webelos Leader) course.  BALOO  now includes an overnight camping experience to better prepare you to lead your pack or den.  Every pack must have a BALOO trained person to plan and lead a Pack Campout.  Every Webelos Den needs a BALOO trained  leader to experience a Den Overnighter. This brand new course  includes a tremendous amount of new material.  Some of the topics covered are:
  • Gear Selection – learn what to look for and what to stay away from
  • Campsite Selection and Set-Up – make sure that your campsite is neat, orderly, and safe
  • Menu Planning and Cooking – whether cooking for a den or a pack, it's a lot more than cooking for your family
  • Cubs and GPS – take your Scouts on a treasure hunt
  • Cubs and Aquatics – everyone loves the water;  learn how to plan and carry out a fun-filled and safe program
  • Cubs and Knife Safety – they all want to use that pocketknife; learn how to provide a safe environment for the Cubs to practice this important Scouting skill.
  • and much, much more.
